Photo Gallery & Visitor Information for Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, England
Blenheim Palace is a majestic country estate located in Woodstock, England, just a stone’s throw away from Oxford. It is the seat of the Dukes of Marlborough and notably the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Winston’s father, Lord Randolph Churchill, was the third son of the 7th Duke of Marlborough.

Blenheim Palace is named after the Battle of Blenheim, which was fought in 1704 under the command of John Churchill. His victory over the French and Bavarians in the War of the Spanish Succession garnered him the gratitude of Queen Anne, who rewarded him with the land and funds to build the palace. It was built between 1705 and 1722, and thereafter was the home of the Churchill family for the next 300 years.

Blenheim Palace is open for public tours, despite being a private residence. Located on the eastern edge of the Cotswolds region and 9-miles north of Oxford, Blenheim receives its fair share visitors passing through the picturesque countryside and/or escaping the city life of Oxford.
After 75-years of being open to the public, Blenheim Palace is currently undergoing renovation projects to restore the roof. During this project, the palace is still open and accessible to visitors. However, some of the areas may be temporarily covered in scaffolding and protective draping until the work is completed in 2027. It took away a little bit from our visit, but there is still so much to see that it didn’t really matter that much.
I’m excited to share my photos from Blenheim Palace and point out a few highlights that you won’t want to miss.
