Writing a Gift Guide for travelers is a little bit like creating my own personal wish list. While I already have so many practical travel necessities — and then some — I am constantly replacing worn out items and finding new gadgets that make life easier.
Whether you are shopping with the holidays in mind or another special occasion, this gift guide features coveted style accessories and the hottest new products ranging from traveler must-haves to luxe splurges. I’ve scoured the Internet and drawn on my experience traveling the world to curate this swoon-worthy list of gift ideas that any woman who travels would love.
TravelPro Luggage
I mean, obviously. But not just any luggage — really nice luggage! Unless you are flying private, it is important to have luggage that is durable and can hold up to airline luggage handlers and all kinds of other mistreatment. My TravelPro suitcases have had their share of being bounced around and are still beautiful.
White + Warren Cashmere Travel Scarf
These scarves by White + Warren have been a best-seller for years for good reason. They are incredibly versatile for year-round travel, but are also a great everyday style accessory. Wear it as a scarf, a wrap, or use as a light blanket. Every girl needs one…in every color.
Saint Laurent Passport Holder
This Saint Laurent quilted leather passport holder would inspire me to book more international travel just so I could hold it as a go through Customs. The classic style is certain to last for decades.
Hotel Lobby Candle
Hotel Lobby candles are available in multiple fragrances that take inspiration from the best hotel lobbies around the world. My favorite is the Signature. Anyone can bring the hotel experience and memories of a resort destination into their own space.
Dyson Corrale Hair Straightener
The cordless Dyson Corrale Hair Straightener is ideal for travel because you never know what the electrical outlet situation is going to be in your hotel room. It does curls, waves, or straightens, which means this is the only tool you need to pack to create any look while you are traveling.
Handheld Travel Steamer
I have stopped relying on the regular iron provided at hotels. Not only is it time-consuming, but I’ve ruined too many clothes due to incorrect heat settings. My travel steamer is so quick and easy to use. It does take up a little luggage space, but it is indispensable for making flowy skirts and blouses look their best.
Fingerless Gloves
I have a drawer full of these in every color. They aren’t just useful for travel, I actually wear them around my house in the winter — and can still type. They will go with me on my fall & winter trips because I like having my fingertips available for taking photos.
Apple AirTags
My favorite new essential is the Apple AirTag. These little buttons slip into your wallet, backpack, luggage, or on a keychain so you never lose track of anything ever again. If you’ve ever lived through a lost baggage nightmare, meet your new best friend. There are all kinds of cute little “holders” for these guys ranging from bag charms to carabiners. More options available online from Apple.
Cosmetic Bag
This cosmetic bag is the perfect size for short trips and carry-on baggage. It comes in a bunch of different colors that you can match to your other bags or mood. Add a few travel size toiletries or some favorite cosmetics inside to make it an even more impressive gift.
Slip Silk Travel Neck Pillow
Most frequent fliers already have something akin to this. But, if you want a posh upgrade, this silk travel pillow by Slip is it. Just like a silk pillowcase, the travel pillow is hypoallergenic, anti aging, anti sleep crease, and anti bed head. Plus, the cover can be removed and laundered between trips.
de Mamiel Altitude Oil
Good things come in small packages! The sensory blend of luxurious plant oils in de Mamiel Altitude Oil counteracts stress and stale air, whether from a long day at work or when traveling. It was recently selected as part of Vogue magazine’s Beauty Hall of Fame and is a carry-on bag must-have.
Wolf Zoe Jewelry Box
This gorgeous embroidered jewelry box by Wolf is the ultimate girly-girl luxury. If you don’t need to carry a chest of jewels, the little round removable case inside the top compartment is perfect to hold and organize your accessories while you travel.
Slip Silk Hair Ties
We just need them. But, instead of the ones that pull your hair too tight, cause damage and breakage, or look goofy, get these neutral-toned silk hair ties by Slip. They are comfortable enough to keep in for long periods of time, if need be, and can make you look chic even after a 12 hour flight.
Sony ZV-1 Camera
For anyone who wants to improve their travel photography beyond a built-in phone camera, the Sony ZV-1 is a point-and-shoot camera for professional quality, high-resolution photos. No complicated settings, changing lenses, or photography classes required. For serious travelers, there is no better investment — or gift — than a great camera to capture all of those bucket-list moments.
Alo Yoga Jet Set Cashmere Socks
These super cozy cashmere socks are perfect for snowed-in nights in front of the fireplace or long flights over oceans. Either way, treat your tootsies to some proper pampering with the best socks ever. If you want to go the extra mile, the Alo Yoga Jet Set Cashmere Collection has mix-and-match styles for the perfect flight outfit.
Umbrella
No one will admit it, but an umbrella is one of the most underrated gifts that has a 100% chance of being used. A sturdy windproof umbrella that folds into a packable size is a must-have for anyone who travels or has an on-the-go lifestyle. I’ve bought two of these Amazon-favorite umbrellas now and can vouch for the quality. They also fit nicely into a Christmas stocking:)
Selfie Stick Tripod
A selfie stick that doubles as a small tripod is so great for solo and couple travel. The very best souvenirs of any trip are the photos you can look back on. A tool that helps you capture those priceless moments is essential.
Try the World Monthly Box
Try the World is a subscription box company that will send box chok full of treats from a different region of the world every month (you decide on the number of months). Every time I travel, I always brings back snacks and groceries — and now you can receive a gift box of specialty foods without the plane ticket. What a brilliant idea!
Cosmetic Train Case
This cosmetic train case by Stephanie Johnson is not only practical for packing skincare, cosmetics, and other toiletries, but is also tres chic. I love the perforated material and quiet luxury style. It is also great for keeping your essentials organized at home!
Hotel Gift Gards
You can never go wrong with a Marriott hotel gift card. I am especially a fan of the Autograph Collection, Design Hotels, and small villas that have so much history and charm. It can also be pretty darn romantic to pop a gift card accompanied by those three magical words, “all expenses paid.”
The gift of travel — and the stuff that makes it easier to do so — is one of the best gifts you can give. Whatever you end up purchasing for the fellow traveler in your life, I hope it leads to great adventures — and I hope you get to go with her!
